Next time you give someone a gift, try personalizing your wrapping. You might worry it'll turn out ugly, but that's what makes it special. Improvise with some newspaper, string (not ribbon), and some pens and markers and you might end up liking your wrap creation. This past Saturday I had the chance to check out Beyond Eden, a collaborative art exhibition with some of the most recognized galleries in the LA area. Nucleus was part of it for the third year I believe, and it was my first time seeing what it was all about. All this took place at the Barnsdall art complex which was such a perfect venue for an event like Beyond Eden.

I can't get enough of this remix of my fave Winehouse song. At first I was skeptical of a remix to an already ace song.. but after a couple listens, I really appreciate the down tempo and how it isolates her powerful voice.  It's just right in every way.

Malaysian singer Yuna is an emerging artist with a mysterious and delicate voice. A voice well suited in her interpretation of Nirvana's "come as you are." There are a lot of covers of this song, all never quite amounting to the amazing that it is, but Yuna's attempt I think is an honest and worthy one. Worthy of a listen at least. Check it:

I'm not a close follower of the series Mad Men, but I have seen a few episodes to know what it's about. Yesterday's visit to Balconi Coffee to check out the Mayumi & Misato installation was quick, maybe too quick. But I managed to get a few shots (of coffee and art) in. Definitely check the place out if you want to try siphon coffee and some crazy new techy check out process. It was my first time authorizing my credit card on an ipad and sending my receipt via text message. Pretty neat!
